Ground Level

Ground Level / Creeping (Under 1 foot / 30 cm):

Low-growing plants and ground covers used to cover bare soil, suppress weeds, and line pathways in traditional landscaping. In terms of daylilies this is our true dwarf, minature, and patio varieties, which are used slightly differently, but the same principals apply.

Low Edging

Low / Edging (1 to 2 feet / 30–60 cm):

Front-border plants placed along walkways or the front edge of a garden bed. These are our dwarf and smaller dayliliy varieties.

Mid-Boarder

Medium / Mid-Border (2 to 4 feet / 60–120 cm):

Transitional filler plants that add mid-level bulk, foliage, and seasonal blooms. These are any of your standard daylily cultivars.

Background

Tall / Background (4 to 6 feet / 1.2–1.8 meters):

Back-row anchor plants used to hide foundations, fences, or blank walls. These are the tallest varieties out there.
