This provides a glimpse of the intended broader topics and themes each month for the year 2027!
January – Intro: We’re kicking off the year by welcoming you into the heart of the farm. Look forward to learning about our history, Jim’s current hybridizing work, and my own journey as a new hybridizer finding my voice among the seedlings, stories, and possibilities ahead.
February – Hybridizing Programs of Daylilies Past: This month, we’ll step back in time and shine a light on the hybridizing programs that helped shape the farm. Customers can look forward to behind-the-scenes history, beloved cultivars, and the people and ideas that laid the groundwork for what we grew to today.
March – Introductions: March is all about taking a thoughtful look at new introductions from across the daylily world. Look forward to honest reviews, fresh perspectives, and conversations about what excites us, surprises us, and pushes the future of daylilies forward.
April – Design & Landscaping: Get ready for a month full of garden inspiration. We’ll explore how to design beautiful beds with daylilies, what companion plants pair well, how colors work together, and how to make your garden feel intentional, vibrant, and full of personality.
May – DIY Daylily Hybridizing: May invites you into the hands-on fun of hybridizing. Look forward to simple steps, helpful tips, personal stories, and customer testimonials that show how exciting it can be to make your own crosses and dream about the blooms that might follow.
June – Jim/Rod: June puts the spotlight on Kroemer-Wuersch cultivars and the stories behind their sepals in the fields of 5 Acres. Customers can look forward to meaningful histories, favorite blooms, and a closer look at the plants that continue to define this special program.
July – Moldovan, Customers, Testimonials & More: July celebrates the people and stories that make daylilies so personal. Look forward to customer experiences, heartfelt testimonials, features on Steve Moldovan, and reflections on the rich queer history woven into the daylily world.
August – Whiteside: August is dedicated to Wes Whiteside and his late-season impact. Customers can look forward to discovering what makes these cultivars stand out, why they matter, and how they continue to bring beauty, interest, and conversation to the garden.
September – Valente: September highlights Valente and his influence on the daylily world. We’ll explore his impact, his legacy, and the qualities that make his work worth revisiting, celebrating, and learning from today.
October – Historic Daylilies: October brings us back to the roots of the daylily world. Customers can look forward to stories about historic cultivars, why they still matter, and how these older varieties continue to influence gardens, hybridizers, and collectors today.
November – CASA Lilies: November centers on compassion, community, and our CASA charity lilies. We’ll share the heart behind these special blooms and reflect on our experience at the annual CASA auction in October, giving customers a meaningful look at how daylilies can help support something bigger.
December – NatUUre & UU Lilies: We’ll close the year by focusing on Hybridizing with 5 Acres and our NatUUre Connect program. Customers can look forward to inspiration, connection, and a deeper look at how our programs bring people, plants, creativity, and purpose together.
