2026 Remote Shipping Orders: We are open for remote shipping orders for 2026. The catalogue on our website is a working-proress and for that we apologize.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we rebuild our online daylily catalog. After losing access to our previous website and the cultivar photo database associated with it, we have had to start over in creating an accurate collection of images for our listings. Because it is important to us to represent each daylily honestly and legally, we cannot use photos from other sources unless we have permission and proper identification. That means we are now retaking photographs of each cultivar here on our farm during its natural bloom season, which gives us only a short window each summer to capture them all, and we simply were not prepared to do so last year, given the circumstances. We also tried gathering customer-submitted photos through a contest, but many images could not be used because the cultivar names were missing or unclear. We truly appreciate your support as we work through this process and update our catalog as quickly and carefully as we can. We will have a full database and cost uploaded by June 1st and the daylilies can be looked up online to see what they look like, but we won't have photos until the cultivars bloom this year and we upload them, respectivly.
When do we take Orders:
Early/SPRING SHIPPING
Approximate Dates We Start Shipping by USDA Hardiness Zone –
We ship anywhere in the United States during the months of June and July.
In late summer we do stop shipping to Zones 2-4 because we would be competing with the cold and the plants might not be viable.
We ship during the month of August to Zones 5-10 only. Only while we still have foilage.
We do not currently take orders thru our site directly (online orders). We do, however, offer Remote Orders, meaning that you call or e-mail us an order. Alternatively, you can put in an order on the website. It will submit the order to us, but it will not allow payment processing, so we will then reach out to you to ring the order up remotely. Orders are processed over the weekend, during retail hours. We will check e-mails and return calls and accept payment during our weekend business hours. Sometimes we will choose to process orders during the week, but that depends on how busy our week is. We dig the daylilies during the week and we will ship out the following Monday or set up a date during the week. We will contact you to process payment. Once we do, we can discuss what we have in stock and we will schedule a date for pick up or if we are shipping to you, then you will be contacted upon shipping with a tracking number for the order as well as an ETA.

Priority Mail has a 2-3 day ETA from the point of shipping. This ensures that the daylilies arrive quickly and safely.
The Priority Mail method we utilize is not calculated by weight; instead, we are provided boxes with a flat rate price attached. We offer shipping in two sizes: Medium & Large. Any additional items ordered will be processed as a separate order, as it would have its own shipping charges placed on us via USPS.
-------------
Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Shipping
Top-Loading: 11 1/4" x 8 3/4" x 6" (Outer) | 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (Inner)
This Box comfortably holds up to 4 daylilies. Any additional daylilies will require a Large Box.
$24.00 Shipping
-------------
Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Shipping
Standard Top-Loading: 12 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 6" (Outer) | 12" x 12" x 5 3/4"
This box comfortably holds up to 8 daylilies. Any additional will be split into a new order.
$34.00 Shipping
-------------
Disclaimer: Daylilies come in different sizes, but we will not risk the health of our plants by placing extra daylilies in a smaller box just because you requested it or to save on shipping. We charge fairly based on what USPS charges us, and this does take into account packaging cost and handling. We are a small daylily farm, and we can't offer free or low-cost shipping the way some larger companies can.
The Gift of Daylilies
Are you interested in receiving coupons, seasonal specials, holiday discounts, and other promotional offers from us? From time to time, we send special offers to customers who have purchased from us or spent over a certain amount during the previous year. We also use our customer records to send annual reminders when daylily season begins. These reminders may include coupons, discounts, or other seasonal promotions.
To receive these specials and promotional offers, we need to have a completed customer intake form on file for you. This form gives us the current contact and mailing information we need to keep accurate customer records and make sure any offers are sent to the correct place.
Please note that purchasing from us online or buying from us in the past does not necessarily mean we have a current customer profile on file. Prior to 2026, this information was not recorded in the way it is now. We have since made changes to how we manage customer information and now create customer profiles manually in a separate recordkeeping system.
Because our website system is separate from the point-of-sale system we use at checkout, and because the devices or systems we use may change over time, the intake form is the best way for us to confirm that your information is accurate, up to date, and included in our records for future coupons, reminders, and promotional offers.
The customer intake form should include the following information:
· First name
· Middle name or initial, if applicable
· Last name
· A contact method, such as an email address, a cellphone number, or both
· If a cellphone number is provided, whether texting is allowed and whether you prefer calls, texts, or email
· A current physical mailing address or P.O. Box if you would like to receive mailed coupons, reminders, or promotional offers.
-------------------------------
Customers who purchase from us in the future may be asked to provide this information for our records. Customers who shop with us in person are not required to provide a physical address unless shipping is involved. However, anyone who wants to be included in mailed coupons, seasonal reminders, or promotional offers will need to provide either a physical mailing address or a P.O. Box.
-------------------------------
OPTING OUT!
Opting Out is always an option. Intake info will still be necesary the first time you purchase from us even if you are a returnig customer. Anyone without an intake form on file or with an incomplete form on file will be asked to provide info upon purchase. If you do not wish to recieve these thing and would like to opt out, let us know or express this when providing information. We will still keep an intake form on file, but we will not include you in anything promotional.

'The Stories Behind the Sepals' is a year-long weekly blog from 5 Acre Farm Daylilies LLC, beginning in January 2027 and publishing every Monday. Written from the perspective of a grower just beginning the journey into daylily hybridizing, the blog will invite readers into the learning process: the first crosses, the questions, the surprises, the failures, and the joy of watching new possibilities unfold in the garden with Aaron Slayton.
Alongside that personal journey, the blog will explore the rich history of daylilies: the hybridizers who shaped them, the lineages that connect one bloom to another, and the historic cultivars that still deserve a place in modern gardens. Special attention will be given to the stories of gay hybridizers and other often-overlooked voices whose creativity, dedication, and vision helped influence the daylily world. This perspective will come from Aaron's husband, Jim Wuersch and from the families of hybridizers such as Ron Valente.
Part garden journal, part history project, and part celebration of beauty and belonging, 'The Stories Behind the Sepals' will look beyond the petals to uncover the people, places, and histories rooted in every flower. Readers can follow along every Monday starting January 2027 as 5 Acre Farm Daylilies LLC grows, learns, remembers, and shares the stories behind the sepals.

Each month, "A Pocketful of 5 Acres", brings readers into the rhythms, colors, and community work of the farm. From seasonal updates in the daylily fields and new happenings in the gift shop to stories from The Stories Behind the Sepals, the newsletter offers a warm look at what is blooming, growing, and changing at 5 Acre Farm Daylilies.
The newsletter also shares updates from NatUUre Connect, a 5 Acre Farm Daylilies LLC program associated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign. Through NatUUre Connect, the farm grows food for people experiencing food insecurity while also supporting monarch butterfly and bat conservation. Together, these updates celebrate the farm as a place where flowers, food, wildlife, and community care all take root.
